A Quick SecTor Recap

Ed Bellis    October 21, 2011

I just wanted to get out a quick post to recap my talk at SecTor from this week and thank the organizers for putting on a great event.

This was my first time at SecTor and I was quite impressed with how it was run and the quality of the content. I gave an updated talk on “The Search For Intelligent Life” which covers a use case walk through of building out a security data warehouse, using public data sets to add additional context, building a predictive analytics capability and repurposing existing tools within an organization for security purposes. It’s a lot to cover in an hour and I only touch on these topics at a high level and hopefully generate additional thought and discussions on how it applies to your organization. As I have been doing a lot lately, I include some New School thoughts and how they can be applied to help all of us.

For those of you who attended, I believe SecTor will be publishing the audio and slides on the site. To anyone who didn’t get the chance to make it out, I have embedded the slides below.
